SEEK Workshop

The first SEEK-ENBI workshop, entitled "Fiscal Governance in the Eurozone: The Role of Rules, Fiscal Boards and Other Policy Innovations", was held on 24 and 25 November 2016 at the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) in Mannheim. ENBI (European Network on Better Institutions) is a three-year project funded by the SEEK programe with the aim to carry out applied research on questions related to institutional reforms in Europe.

The specific focus of this year's workshop was on the role of fiscal institutions in sustainable fiscal governance in the Eurozone. The two-day event brought together more than 20 academics and policy-makers, and the sessions covered topics related to, among others, fiscal rules, fiscal councils, fiscal policy over the business cycles, and tax reforms.
Download the programme of the 2016 workshop here. The  workshops scheduled for 2017 and 2018 will cover topics related to fiscal stabilization mechanisms and sovereign debt restructurings, respectively.
